Growth

God’s ultimate goal for our lives on earth is that we grow up spiritually and become like Christ. We become more like Him when we choose to cooperate with the Holy Spirit who teaches us to take on his values, attitudes, and character. God wants to grow you up spiritually through His word, circumstances, and people.

Growing spiritually is a life-long process and requires our active participation. We must let go of our old sinful ways of acting, let God change the way we think, and develop new, godly habits. Three of these habits include:

1 | Spend time with God through prayer and reading His word

The weekly Sunday bulletin contains questions that pertain to the daily Bible readings to help you interact and apply the Bible to your life. God grows us spiritually every time we take a step of faith to trust Him rather than our own ways.

2 | Make God Lord of your time, talents, and possessions

Practice tithing on a regular basis. Get involved and volunteer in a ministry to others. Thinking and caring for others is the best evidence of spiritual growth.

3 | Join a growth cell group and develop an accountability relationship with others in the group or with at least one other person

Accountability in the context of a group is where you are willing to give an honest account of your life to another or others in an atmosphere of mutual love, trust, and acceptance toward the goal of becoming more Christ-like.
